As Gold Award Holders of the Employer Recognition Scheme since 2021 and signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant, we have close ties to the East Anglia Reserve Forces and Cadets Association and regularly demonstrate our support to those that support our nation.

We were delighted to have the opportunity to send two of our Maintenance Team Leaders, Vicky and Jade, to attend the military Exercise Executive Leader course on 16 May.

Held at the Army Reserve Centre in Cambridge, the focus of the day was on Leadership and what skills you would look for in a good leader.

The day began with an introduction to Army Leadership and the agenda was based around 2 key components; Leadership Theory and Leadership in Practice.

Incorporating both practical and intellectual elements, Vicky explained “the course featured activities such as command tasks, team building and problem solving. My favourite activity was the rifle practice and I really enjoyed the sense of achievement when our team successfully completed tasks.”

Jade said “I found the day great! The course was full of brilliant ideas on how to be a good leader but also enabled you with the skills to identify when things aren’t going so well and the tools to help you improve those behaviours.”

The day ended with a certificate presentation ceremony, of which Vicky and Jade brought theirs back to the office and proudly put them on display.

Thank you to the Ministry of Defence for organising another fantastic leadership event for our employees to enjoy.
