The Devonshire

Sector: Gastropub
Details: Classic British pub with a grill restaurant
Location: Soho, London

The highly anticipated launch of The Devonshire took place in November 2023. Cofounded by publican Oisín Rogers, restaurateur Charlie Carroll and chef Ashley Palmer-Watts, the hospitality sector could not wait for The Devonshire to open and to see what the famous trio had to offer.

The site dates back to 1793, and the history and character fills all four storeys of the building. The Devonshire sticks to its roots as a classic London pub and features a good old fashioned bar downstairs and the Grill Room restaurant upstairs. An additional feature is the outdoor terrace that will be used as an extension to the restaurant during good weather.

The pub serves a vast selection of beer, with customers flocking to try one of their famous pints of Guinness. The restaurant contains a wood fired kitchen and the menu features items from its in-house butchery and bakery.

This reborn gastro pub has brought excitement to Soho and it has immediately gained a huge following.

We congratulate The Devonshire for recently winning the “Gastropub of the Year” award at the National Restaurant Awards 2024 due to its authentic menu and setting. We have no doubt this award will be the first of many.

Soho

Located in Soho, The Devonshire stands tall on a corner plot near to Piccadilly Circus in Central London.

Often described as the most fun part of London, this vibrant area of the West End is full of life. Featuring a variety of unique shops, top restaurants and live theatres, Soho is buzzing from morning until night.

This central part of London is popular with tourists as it provides a great base to discover some of the most iconic and historic landmarks in the city.

Let history repeat itself

The building originally opened in 1793 as a Victorian pub, and the new owners have relaunched the site and returned it to its roots.

As The Devonshire is housed in a very historic building, the site did have some challenges. Our experience with older properties and working in Central London meant we had effective processes in place to manage this project smoothly.
