Sector: Quick service chicken restaurant
Details: Flavoursome buffalo-style chicken wings
Location: Westfield Stratford City
The first Wingstop opened in 1994 in Texas. After expanding across America, the chicken brand achieved a huge milestone in 2002 when they reached one billion sales of their famous chicken wings.
In 2018, Wingstop arrived in the UK and today, there are more than 1500 restaurants worldwide.
The main item on the menu is, unsurprisingly, chicken wings, but they also offer a selection of burgers and tenders as well. In addition to being famous for their chicken wings, they are also legendary for putting flavour at the forefront of their concept. Customers are offered a wide variety of flavours of varying levels of spice to accompany their chicken, which is extremely popular and has contributed to the huge brand following.
Their success has been widely recognised and Wingstop have been named the fastest growing restaurant group in the UK by The Sunday Times 100 in both 2023 and 2024.
"This was a really dynamic project to work on. Westfield Stratford City is an exciting location and we were tasked with implementing the largest cookline of any Wingstop restaurant. The site completed smoothly and it has been fantastic to see how successful the restaurant has been since it opened."
Tony Burr, Project Manager at Chapman Ventilation Ltd
Located in East London, Westfield Stratford City is one of Europe’s largest urban shopping centres and a vibrant hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is easily accessible by public transport, making it a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike.
As well as housing the top names in retail, Westfield Stratford City also boasts an extensive array of dining options as it contains over 80 restaurants, cafés, and eateries, ranging from fast-casual chains to upscale international cuisines. The Food Court provides quick and diverse options like tacos, noodles, and burgers, while the outdoor terraces offer a more relaxed atmosphere with views of the Olympic Park.
Westfield Stratford City is Wingstop’s biggest UK site to date and it is a perfect addition to this multi purpose venue.
At Chapman Ventilation, we believe that communication and collaboration go hand in hand to ensure the successful completion of a project. Wingstop, Westfield Stratford City is a great example of how our skilful team used their teamwork and problem solving skills to navigate some of the trickier aspects of this site.
We worked collaboratively with the landlord to ensure that we kept the existing wet system air conditioning. Historically this has proven difficult but our previous experiences provided us with knowledge to ensure that this went smoothly and to plan.
This project also offered unique aspects as it contains the largest cookline of any Wingstop, featuring lots of fryers and ovens, and a very long kitchen extract run. Both of these issues provided an opportunity to get creative with the design and the end result was a great looking restaurant with a fantastic system.
Chapman Ventilation are proud to have worked on this extremely successful branch of Wingstop, and delighted to continue working with them as they roll out more restaurants across the UK.
